RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification (translated into Portuguese for \u201cIdentification by Radio Frequency\u201d). This device has the function of individually identifying each product, thus allowing the tracking of each unit and recording the technical information of each product. All of this, of course, through a small radio frequency signal.<\/p>\n<p>This technology is made up of an antenna, which captures information; and a microchip, responsible for capturing the data. These elements are protected by a <em>transponder<\/em> (also known as TAG), which can have different shapes, despite being made of plastic or silicone.<\/p>\n<p>Next, discover the biggest advantages of this technology.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are the advantages of RFID in logistics?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Capacity for storing, reading and sending data;<\/li>\n<li>Real-time tracking;<\/li>\n<li>Prevention against theft and counterfeiting;<\/li>\n<li>Inventory reduction and control;<\/li>\n<li>Agility in the shipping process;<\/li>\n<li>Durability and possibility of reusing labels;<\/li>\n<li>Possibility of monitoring environments;<\/li>\n<li>Supply chain management;<\/li>\n<li>Location of items still in the search process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-31699 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/tecnotri.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/RFID-na-logistica-2-1200x800-1.jpg\" alt=\"RFID in logistics\" width=\"1020\" height=\"680\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Main differences between barcodes and RFID in logistics:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You may already know the barcode: it is printed on the surface of the label. It does not perform any type of detection or tracking of products, and because they are prone to tearing, they can have a much shorter useful life. More technically, the barcode cannot have anything between it and the reader: that is, both must be static at the time of reading. Furthermore, it is only possible to read one code at a time on each machine.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, RFID tags have many differences. The code is recorded inside the chip, making it possible to read it without contact between the product and the machine. In contrast to the barcode, the system can read several labels simultaneously, much faster and with greater distance between the product and the reading system. This way, logistics becomes more productive and practical.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Enjoy and make a difference!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The issue is that few companies make use of RFID technology. The Brazilian Automation Association carried out a survey on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gs1br.org\/educacao-e-pratica\/Estudos%20e%20Pesquisas\/Pesquisa%20O%20uso%20do%20codig o%20de%20barras%20no%20brasil%20sob%20a%20perspectiva%20das%20empresas%20e%20consumidores_1H2015.pdf\">o use of barcodes in Brazil<\/a>, and found that 80.6% of products circulating on the market have barcodes. Furthermore, 91.6% of companies that have products for the end consumer consider the use of barcodes to be important for the sale of their products.
