The transport of dangerous cargo presents risks to human health, the environment and public roads. Therefore, it requires special care to ensure safety and respect legislation.<\/p>\n

Understand what is considered dangerous cargo<\/h2>\n

Dangerous loads are any loads that, because they are explosive, such as compressed or liquefied gases, flammable, oxidizing, poisonous, infectious, radioactive, corrosive or polluting, may pose risks to workers, public or private property and the environment in general.<\/p>\n

Due to the dangers involved in transporting this type of cargo, the law determines the appropriate identification, packaging, labeling, packaging and documentation of these products.<\/p>\n

Know the legislation for dangerous cargo<\/h2>\n

As it represents risks, the transport of dangerous cargo is subject to specific legislation. For land transport purposes, a product is considered dangerous if it falls into one of the nine risk classes established in the resolutions of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).<\/p>\n

The ANTT Resolution no. 5.232\/16<\/a> establishes prescriptions regarding transport conditions; documentation; duties, obligations and responsibilities; applicable infractions. The ANTT Resolution n\u00ba 3665\/11<\/a> establishes requirements and details regarding the correct classification of the product; the adequacy, certification and identification of volumes and packaging; signaling of transport units and equipment; documentation; and the requirements applicable to road transport vehicles and equipment.<\/p>\n

According to item 2.0.0 of ANTT Resolution No. 420\/04, the classification of a product as dangerous for transport must be carried out by its manufacturer or the consignor guided by him. The tests and criteria for classifying a given product as dangerous for land transport are described in the Manual of Tests and Criteria (ST\/SG\/AC.10\/11 Rev. 3), a publication of the United Nations (UN).<\/p>\n

According to item 5.1.1.2.2 of resolution no. 420\/04, the identification of volumes is done through labeling (attachment of risk labels), marking, security panels and other applicable symbols. Such marking consists of affixing the UN number and the appropriate shipping name for the product. The models, colors, sizes and dimensions are established in chapter 5.2 of the same resolution, complemented by the ABNT NBR 7500 standard.<\/p>\n

Use cargo safes to comply with regulations<\/h2>\n

According to criteria established in the instructions supplementary to this ANTT Regulation, dangerous products must be segregated in cargo safes that ensure their tightness in relation to the rest of the shipment.<\/p>\n

\"Cargo<\/p>\n

It is prohibited, for example, to simultaneously transport different dangerous products or dangerous products together with food or medicines in the same vehicle, unless there is compatibility between them or if the products are segregated in cargo boxes.<\/p>\n

Cargo safes<\/a> are boxes with locks for storing general cargo, whether dangerous or not, with the purpose of segregating it during transportation of incompatible products.
