Upon returning to classes on February 1, 2018, students at Escola Estadual Professor Silvio de Almeida, in Batatais-SP, were surprised by something new that they can be proud of: A brand new system for rainwater harvesting.

The project carried out includes the installation of interconnected Modular Cisterns, generating a system with a total storage capacity of 3,150 liters of rainwater. The water collected will be used for watering the vegetable garden, cleaning and washing the school yard.

Ecological awareness and water saving

The adoption of sustainable practices, such as the use of rainwater, provides students with ecological awareness. In this way, it educates them and encourages them to reflect on their actions and value the environment and natural resources.

Mr. Ricardo Cavalini, Director of the School, was very satisfied with the installation of the equipment and how the actions to carry out this work were carried out.

“It took us a long time to acquire the Cisterns, and now they are a reality in our School. We are very proud to be part of the sustainability team of the State Schools of the State of São Paulo. And to be able, pedagogically, to make our students aware of the importance and benefits of saving water and using alternative resources such as rainwater”, highlighted Ricardo.
