In addition to concerns about sustainability, the measure is a way to avoid water shortages during dry periods.
Like other states in the country, such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina also adopted a law that requires new constructions to install cisterns to capture rainwater, that is, to reuse water.
Florianópolis, the state capital, also approved a similar municipal law at the beginning of 2016. All new commercial and residential buildings with an area above 200 m² built in the municipality must have rainwater collection for reuse. The law also states that water must undergo treatment that makes it suitable for use in activities that do not require drinking water.
These measures are fundamental for water conservation, as the large population concentration in cities causes an increasing demand. In summer this demand increases even more and, consequently, also increasing the waste of drinking water, as it is used in activities that could be carried out with recycled water.
Reused water can be used in activities such as:
- agriculture and gardening;
- cleaning houses, streets and sidewalks;
- car wash;
- sanitary discharge.
That’s why the use of cisterns is so important, a practical and efficient solution that generates benefits for both nature and your wallet.
Cisterns are compact reservoirs and can be used in houses, condominiums, buildings, among others. At Tecnotri you will find cisterns with capacities of 150, 600, 1000 and 1050 liters that adapt to any space.
