Leak containment in the transformation industry

As it involves the physical, chemical and biological transformation of materials, sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food and nutrition need to be very careful with the quality and safety of their products and observe health and safety standards.

Care with storage and transportation is essential, as it helps to minimize any risks to the quality of products, especially when handling materials such as chemical and flammable liquids.

But do you know what precautions should be taken to ensure the safety of products? How to observe health and safety standards? Do you know Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)? What precautions are necessary when storing and transporting? See the answers to these questions below and find out how to increase the safety of your production.

Learn about recommended manufacturing practices

The Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), recommended by RDC 17/10, ensure that products from manufacturing industries are produced with appropriate quality standards.

The facilities must offer adequate conditions for operations, in order to minimize the risk of errors, enable cleaning and maintenance, and thus avoid cross-contamination, the accumulation of dust and dirt or any adverse effect that could affect the quality of the products.

Storage areas must be clean, dry and maintained at temperatures compatible with the materials stored. Humidity and temperature monitoring and recording must be carried out when necessary.

Washing, cleaning and drying equipment must be chosen and used so as not to represent a source of contamination. The equipment used in production must not present any risks to the products.

See an example of a safe production process

Rousselot processing industry, global leader in pharmaceutical gelatins, with more than 120 years of experience, has become a reference in the market for its care with the entire production process. From product development to logistical services, the company always seeks to achieve operational excellence, to comply with the highest international standards of quality, safety and sustainability.

Rousselot produces organic products for the pharmaceutical and food sectors derived from gelatin, such as capsules for medicines. Its products meet the highest international standards of quality, safety and sustainability, from the choice of raw materials to transportation and storage.

To guarantee the quality and safety of the entire production process, the company uses containment pallets, which comply with health and safety standards. Also called container pallet or containment basin, it is used to ensure the containment of leaks from drums and drums.  For the storage of containers with caustic soda, the containment pallet model used is the Tecnotri PL043 Containment Pallet.

Learn about the necessary precautions in distribution and transportation

Proper storage and distribution of products must minimize any risks to their quality. Direct contact between the operator’s hands and raw materials, primary packaging materials, intermediate and bulk products must be avoided.

In logistical operations in the pharmaceutical industry, it is mandatory for a pharmacist to monitor the entire process. Their work consists of monitoring the loading and unloading of products, the correct temperature of the vehicle, storage conditions, the necessary documentation for traceability, among other factors.

Learn how to store products correctly

Special attention must be paid to storage conditions, paying attention to controlling humidity, pests and other disease vectors. Poor transport and storage conditions can harm products due to the influence of external factors, such as light, heat, humidity and contact with contaminants.

Production areas must be provided with all necessary infrastructure, which includes qualified and properly trained personnel; adequate space and facilities; adequate equipment and services; correct materials, containers and labels; approved procedures and instructions; adequate storage and transportation; facilities, equipment and qualified personnel for process control; between others.

Be careful with chemical and flammable liquids

The storage and transportation of chemical and flammable liquids, used by the manufacturing industry, must be carried out with careful planning and following safety standards. Preventive measures must be adopted when handling and storing dangerous products, which can contaminate the environment, soil and people.

The use of containment pallets helps prevent the leakage of chemical, flammable, acidic and corrosive liquids stored in drums and drums. Furthermore, it allows any spilled liquid to be reused.

Lightweight, non-toxic, easy to disassemble and sanitize, the Tecnotri rotomolded containment pallet is easy to transport and can be handled with forklifts or pallet trucks. Furthermore, it has a reversible face (grid), which can accommodate drums on one side and packages of different sizes on the other.

As we have seen, the use of containment pallets is very important to prevent product leaks and contamination and ensure the quality and safety of the entire production process.

How does rotomolded plastic ensure sanitary safety in the food industry?

How does rotomolded plastic ensure sanitary safety in the food industry?

The manufacturing environment faces daily challenges that go far beyond productivity. When dealing with sectors that process inputs intended for human consumption, there is zero room for operational failure, requiring strict control over every surface. In this scenario, the use of common storage structures can hide risks that are invisible to the naked eye. This […]

Plastic pallets in automotive reverse logistics

Plastic pallets in automotive reverse logistics

Reverse logistics in the automotive industry requires control, efficiency, and standardization. Unlike other sectors, here the return flow is not optional. It’s part of the operation. Parts, components, returnable packaging, and transport structures constantly circulate among suppliers, automakers, and distribution centers. When this process isn’t well structured, problems arise such as asset losses, increased […]

Waste management and input segregation in laboratories: See why rotomolded cages are the right choice

Laboratory and healthcare companies operate under a high level of control, where precision is the rule. Every stage — from receiving raw materials to portioning inputs and final disposal — must follow strict criteria to prevent cross-contamination, ensure product integrity, and protect worker safety. Operational complexity increases when different classes of materials coexist in the […]
