What is the campaign?

Occupational Safety Week refers to World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which takes place on April 28, in memory of the victims of an explosion in a mine in Virginia, in the United States, in 1969. On that occasion, 78 miners lost their lives.

Since 2003, when the date was established by the International Labor Organization (ILO), many actions have been taken to raise awareness among companies and employees about the prevention of work-related accidents and illnesses.

What is the purpose of the date?

World Day for Safety and Health at Work encourages awareness campaigns about caring for the well-being of employees, regardless of the segment. With this, it rescues some of the regulatory standards, such as NR 17, which establishes requirements for companies to offer ergonomics to employees, in order to prevent workplace accidents and occupational illnesses.

In addition, the date aims to encourage organizations to develop a culture of safety and health within work environments. This means that employers and workers participate in a system of rights and duties, where the focus is prevention.

How important is ergonomics?

Ergonomics is fundamental to ensuring safety and health at work. This is because it checks all the details regarding the employee’s activity, analyzing posture and body movements, as well as the equipment used and other factors involving the role. Everything to ensure that the employee has healthy conditions to carry out their occupation and is able to do so effectively and safely.

Even in industries where automation is already a reality, there are factors that can harm workers’ well-being. Therefore, ergonomics needs to be a priority in all sectors. By making an assertive assessment, it is possibleto correct existing errors and prevent health problems for people.

What happens to companies that don’t invest in ergonomics in the workplace?

Employee health, in some aspects, is the company’s responsibility. Therefore, by investing in ergonomic solutions for workers, your business will be within the law. The opposite situation places the organization in a position of non-compliance, subjecting the company to fines and legal punishments.

How can Tecnotri help your company bring more ergonomics to employees?

Tecnotri has developed a specific lineof ergonomics, with pallets, containers and multipurpose seats, to meet health and safety needs in industries.
