Educating by creating ecological awareness, which values sustainable practices such as selective waste collection, planting seedlings, reducing energy and water consumption, in addition to capturing rainwater, has been an increasingly common experience in schools across Brazil.

Cisterns and water reuse in schools

With the use of cisterns, municipal and state schools use rainwater for cleaning and maintenance, avoiding the waste of drinking water in the school environment. This activity, in addition to having a socio-educational character, makes it possible to reflect on how each person’s attitude influences the environment around them.

Environmental Education

This simple and ecologically correct practice, in addition to setting an example and educating, encourages students, teachers and the entire community to live in a sustainable way, creating ecological awareness and a pleasant environment for the entire community.

This is what happened at the Sementinha Municipal School of Early Childhood Education, located in Marau, Rio Grande do Sul. In the school yard, a Vertical Cistern was installed to capture rainwater, with capacity to store up to 1000 liters of water. This rainwater has been used to clean patios, sidewalks and irrigate gardens.

Easy to Install

Vertical cisterns are compact, very simple to install and can capture up to 1050 liters of water per module, taking up a small space and without having to carry out excavations or modify the structure of the building.

Just like Escola Municipal Sementinha, several other schools are taking the first step, becoming a reference in their communities with rainwater harvesting and encouraging sustainable practices.
