Water reuse is one of the sustainable options to help preserve water, in addition to helping to save on your end-of-month bill. For those who work in the gas station segment, this reality may be a little different. Understand why:

With the water crisis in SP, concern about saving water spread throughout Brazil. And, for São Paulo residents, rationing became law.

In April 2015, Mayor Fernando Haddad sanctioned Law No. 16,160, a regulation that creates the Water Reuse Program in service stations, vehicle supply stations and car washes in the Municipality of São Paulo. The law aims to boost water reuse, punishing up to 1 thousand reais for those establishments that do not comply with the stipulated articles.

The city of São Paulo is just getting started with a national symptom. It is necessary to encourage and raise awareness among people and companies about the need to reuse water.

In many parts of the country, water reuse at gas stations is seen as an extremely beneficial form of sustainable economy. Did you know that when washing a car in a car wash, with drinking water, approximately 90 liters are used per vehicle*? Therefore, with properly treated reused water, it is possible to significantly cut these costs.

– Okay, I understand. But how to apply a reuse water system?

The first step is to understand that for water reuse to occur, you must have storage structures, such ascisterns.

The main purpose of cisterns is to capture water from rain, but they can also be used as reservoirs for general use.

At gas stations, the ideal reservoir to avoid accidents with the stations’ underground systems and plumbing is the surface cistern. Like the model Tecnotri modular cistern, a compact and easy-to-install structure that holds up to 1000 liters per module, designed for external and internal environments.

After obtaining the reservoir for water collection, it is important to consult a specialist to help install a suitable filtration system. Water reuse can be applied to car washes, general cleaning, internal sewage systems, garden irrigation, among other uses.

An example of a gas station that uses tanks for water reuse are the stations of the Ipiranga Station Network, which value sustainability in its business management.

In Campo Grande/MS, the Ipiranga Stations of the Locatteli Network useTecnotri Cisterns to apply their water reuse system in car washes, generating savings of up to 75% of monthly water consumption.
