Palletization contributes to automation in the industry and makes the storage process more agile, safe and efficient. It allows you to store products with a variety of items that need to be moved quickly.
Among the pallet carrier variations, the dynamic push-back system stands out, which allows the storage of up to five pallets deep on each level of the pallet racking.
But do you already know the push back system? Do you know what your role is in the industry? Below, you will find information about this storage system and tips for optimizing your logistics.
Understand how the push-back system works
The push-back pallet rack system consists of a block of structures similar to a drive-in, with uprights (rollers) and stringers.
Each storage plane in the push-back system has its own rail system, operating independently. It is based on the LIFO methodology (acronym for last-in, first-out), that is, the last pallet that enters is necessarily the first that leaves.
In this system, pallets are arranged on telescopic rails, which have a slight inclination. The first pallet is placed on the rack and pushed back by the next pallet, in a successive operation up to the last pallet on each rail.
The loading lane is slightly inclined as the front is lower. This way, the forklift operator can control the speed at which each pallet is removed. This means that others follow the movement, always leaving a pallet in front to be removed.
In this system, pallets are stored on rails or rollers. Therefore, the loads move due to gravity, and the structure can reach up to five levels deep.
Therefore, we have a storage model that provides more efficiency and agility to the goods entry and exit processes.

Discover push-back system models
There are two models for the push-back system, in which the ways of pushing the pallet and filling the space are identical, but the tools used are different.
In both cases, the movement of goods for storage and removal occurs simply, quickly and productively.
These models are:
Push-back with strollers
In this push-back system, pallets are placed on a set of carts that move towards the bottom as they undergo the impulse.
When a pallet is removed, the others move forward, becoming available for the aisle.
Push-back with rollers
In the roller system, pallets slide on rollers. This causes them to propel other pallets to the rear. When they are removed, the pallets at the bottom move closer to the aisle.
See the advantages of the storage system
Among the main advantages presented by the push back storage system, we can highlight:
-
- – Use of space rationally;
- – Elimination of aisles between shelves;
- – Possibility of greater number of addresses, compared to the drive-in system;
- – More agility in the operation of forklifts to place and remove pallets;
- – Dynamic block storage, with better use of useful warehouse space;
- – Better classification of stored products;
- – Monitoring of expiration dates, batches and production series of stored products and raw materials.
Learn about the advantages of using rotomolded plastic pallets
The plastic pallet is a customizable product, made from molds. It can be developed according to customers’ logistical needs, favoring automation.
In addition, pallets favor the rationalization of storage spaces, the reduction of damage to products and the better use of vertical spaces. Its structure provides direct and individual access to each load unit, facilitating product distribution.
Produced in different colors, pallets favor more efficient organization of products. This is because they allow the identification of goods, good use of physical space and property traceability. What’s more, they are up to 70% lighter than wooden pallets, have a constant weight and require no long-term maintenance.
Plastic pallets are versatile and can be configured for use on the ground, in sliding pallet racks, dynamic drive ins, racks and metal shelving. They have a modern system of interlocking crossbars that ensures quick and easy assembly and disassembly.
Due to its resistance, the pallet rack allows the storage of large and heavy products in a vertical position. In this way, it optimizes the use of physical space and multiplies storage capacity.
As we have seen, the push-back system is capable of making the storage process more agile, efficient and safe, contributing to increasing the industry’s productivity.
